On Saturday, August 9, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm we will be setting up for the…

After church on Sunday, August 10, 2025, fueled by pizza and good cheer, members and friends joined in packing the donated backpacks with all the school supplies needed to send these children and youth off to school with confidence. The children and youth are the family members of the employees of Parx Race Track, primarily the people who work in the stables to care for the horses. They are frequently far from home and family support and often struggle to provide for the needs of their families. It is our enormous pleasure to help them and their children.
On Saturday night, at a Shazzam event, the supplies were organized and notes were written for each recipient to encourage them in school.
Thirty three backpacks bursting with supplies were taken to the Community Center at the back of the track where they were distributed by Rev. Rick Bunker, the missionary director of the Community Center and the mission at the track. Since we had extra supplies after filling the packs, these were taken as well and used to supplement donations by other groups.
Thanks to everyone who contributed supplies, gift cards and their time to this effort!
