A Joyful Installation Service

Sunday, September 13 was a joyful day at BCGV as we gathered to formally install Reverend Rebecca Driscoll Mygatt as our 34th pastor and the first woman to be installed as pastor of BCGV. Amid a sea of red clothing, flowers and balloons, we held a service filled with warmth, laughter, music, prayer, inspiring messages, blessings and a wonderful sense of community.

We were especially grateful to have so many special guests with us, including clergy from across our faith community, representatives of the Philadelphia Baptist Association, and friends and family of Pastor Rebecca. Just as special was seeing so many members of the BCGV church family filling the Meeting House and taking part in this celebration of the ministry we share.

The service gave us an opportunity not only to celebrate Pastor Rebecca but also to affirm the covenant we share and our commitment to our ministry together. The Litany of Stones was a meaningful part of the service, as each person was invited to contribute a stone to symbolize the strong foundation we are building together.

We were also blessed by the thoughtful messages shared during the service. Our guest clergy offered words of wisdom, encouragement and blessing to Pastor Rebecca and to our congregation. The service also included a special children’s sermon, offering a message especially for our youngest members. Together, these messages reminded us of the many ways we are connected to and support one another, as well as the joy of sharing in ministry together.

And, of course, the afternoon ended with a delicious reception and plenty of time for conversation and fellowship.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a joyful and meaningful day — from those who planned and prepared the service and reception, to those who participated, welcomed our guests, provided music and helped with all the many details behind the scenes. Most of all, thank you to everyone who came and helped us celebrate. It was a wonderful day for our church family.
